TaDeGe Pond And Water Garden
2010 was the year that I fulfilled my lifelong desire to become an apiarist. One of the important requirements for honeybees is a source of water. I had a 40 gal aquarium and I started searching the internet for ways to make this water source more interesting. During my search I came across the TaDeGe web page and found it extremely interesting. Since Wakin do well in colder water I chose them and also some cherry shrimp. All of the fry arrived alive and strong. All but one shrimp also arrived in great condition. I received more fry and shrimp then was promised too. The food that I purchased was great and worked just fine.
In the tank I also added a miniature yellow water lily, water hyacinth, and several other plants. Duck weed came along with them. I also purchased Japanese water snails. All was well throughout the summer. I took lots of photos. These fish can handle a wide range of temperature and water conditions.
I failed to remove the shrimp before the Wakin became big enough to eat them. The disaster was caused by me. I moved my fish into the house for the winter and problems began all because of my carelessness. I was warned on the TaDeGe site that one mistake could teach me a great lesson. I have made several. I decided to clean thebig tank so I moved the fish to a smaller tank. I cleaned the big tank and filled it with tap water. I ran a bubbler in it for two days thinking that would remove all the chlorine. WRONG!
For some reason one Wakin survived. It is really pretty and about 4 inches long.
This year I plan to start again.
A great experience.
